Students share their thoughts on what living in Clutha means to them...‘South Otago is a place where you want to be, to live or stay for a long period of time. The population here is not that much. The people are helpful, kind, easy to be with, and they are full of respect to each other. Being friendly is a very simple thing to do but it is a big thing in a community.’

‘I really love living in Balclutha. For 8 years I lived in Auckland and I never felt welcomed. After one week I felt welcomed and that I belonged. I finally felt at home. The people are warm and friendly and always keen to catch up or have a chat. At South Otago High School I’ve made some amazing friends and we do everything together. Balclutha has amazing scenery, luscious rolling hills, clean fresh beaches, friendly faces and great service. Everyone should live in Balclutha.’

‘I absolutely love South Otago as I am a very keen angler and there is no better place to fish than in the mighty, deep south. That’s not all, as there are a huge variety of waterfalls in the area. Seals and many rare species of birds also live in the Catlins. That’s what makes South Otago such a wonderful, pleasant place.’
